Ian&Philippa
Over the years many friends and local people have asked us for cookery tips and we came up with the idea of running a series of courses for enthusiastic home cooks of all abilities who want to find out about gourmet cooking.
Ian Dowding is a freelance chef, catering consultant and food stylist for TV and films including Channel 4' recent Regency House Party series. He was the founding chef at The Hungry Monk, Jevington where he created the Banoffi Pie before moving on to be the Chef/Patron at Quincy's Restaurant in Seaford.
Philippa Vine is the food correspondent with a monthly cookery column for Farmer's Weekly magazine which emphasis her passion for seasonal local produce for quality family meals. She hosted the Farmer's Weekly Battle of the Beef competition here at Bates Green in 2003 and was in the regional final of MasterChef 2000 appearing with Gary Rhodes and Gordon Ramsay.

The Bates Green Venue is available to hire for small gatherings, seminars and meetings or for a small dinner party. We will do all the catering from a simple tea to a gourmet dinner. For further information about these facilities or any aspect of our programme please ring Philippa Vine: 01323 482039 or contact Philippa by email by clicking here

Garden Group Visits

If you would like a conducted tour around the garden we are very happy to welcome gardening groups by arrangement. Light lunches and teas are also available, please do contact us to arrange a visit.

Gift Vouchers

Our courses and dinners make excellent presents. If you’d like to give someone a gift voucher please let us know.

As well as running cookery demonstration we also have a number of other events and activites planned for this year.
